Remote Search and Disposal/Rescue Robot
A downloadable project
The Remote Search and Rescue/Disposal Robot with live video streaming over a Browser will allow operators to remotely maneuver the Robot using 3D gestures. The Bot can also be controlled from Mobile/Tablet devices using simple input interfaces.
The Robot is based off a Raspberry Pi with a Logitech USB Webcam. The framework used is WebIOPi which is a publicly available Internet of Things framework for the Raspberry Pi. This Bot will use a Logitec USB WebCam to remotely stream live video over to the Operator's Browser.
Since this setup is based off the Raspberry Pi and the WebIOPi IoT framework, this can be extended to control any device/sensor/module that can be interfaced to the Raspberry Pi and also has the ability to remotely send sensors and acquired data back wirelessly.
This project demonstrates and provides a minimalistic example of how wireless 3D hand gestures can be used to control and interact with physical stuff.
- Remote Gesture Operated Bomb Disposal Robot (using maybe an OWI Arm etc)
- Remote Surgical Operation by a Doctor
- Gesture controlled interactive Art Exhibits or Educational Content
- Infinite other possibilities/integrations (I'm limited by my imagination :) )
A video demo of this integration can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQULjZoDeWA
